From 7 to 11 December, 2011 the First International Arctic Festival "The
attraction of Taimyr” is taking place in Dudinka, the capital of
Taimyr. The festival is held during the celebration of the II
International festival of the aboriginal people and the Day of Taimyr.
Organizers of the festival are the Administration of Taimyr
Dolgan-Nenets municipal district and the Association of the smaller
Peoples of Taimyr. The Arctic festival is supported by the Ministry of
Regional Development of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of
Culture of Krasnoyarsk Territory.
A large number of distinguished guests will take part in the
Arctic festival. Unique performers of traditional folk songs, poets,
writers, masters of Arts and crafts will demonstrate a variety of styles
and genres of national cultures in authentic and scenic forms. The
organizing committee has already received applications for participation
from Moscow and St. Petersburg, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia),
Khakassia, Altai and Tuva and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Evenkia and
other northern regions. The national folk dance ensemble from Yamal
"Syra-Sev," Evenk folk singer Vladimir Khomenko and the song and dance
Ensemble "Osiktakan" will bring some happiness to the Taimyr spectators
by bright and notable numbers. Tuva musical group "Albert Kuvezin and
Yat-Kha," the ensemble of Russian song "Siberian vechora", the ensemble
of Russian folk instruments "Rusichi" and the folk show "Yarmarka" will
perform for the first time on the Taimyr land. Creative teams and
delegates from the countries of the Arctic Council (the USA, Canada,
Norway, Finland and Sweden) are expected to attend the festival.
And also the Taimyr professional groups with their performances
will appear before the audience. The song and dance ensemble of the
North "Heiro", choreographic companies "Taimyr" and "Pearl of the Far
North," vocal and dance ensemble "Harp", diksonskaya vocal group "The
Arctic Breeze" and the dance ensemble from Khatanga "Inspiration" will
be represent the cultural diversity of Taimyr.
The programme of the Arctic festival is very various and rich, it will
be interesting to participants of all ages. Anyone will be able to enjoy
the culture of indigenous northern peoples from different countries,
taking part in master classes of throat singing, making national toys,
bone carving, interior design. Also during the festival there will be
organized contests in dance and ritual ceremonies, books exhibitions in
the native languages and works of the festival guests, game programmes
and documentary film screenings. Dudinka parade of dance groups "Within
the Arctic Circle" will be held on the 10 th of December- the Day of
Taimyr. The festival will come to the end with a gala concert "Art of
the Arctic peoples in the treasury of ancient Taimyr".
Festival organizers also planned to hold a scientific and
practical conference "Arctic ethnic groups: the development of cultural
traditions through interaction," wh ere the problems, the main prospects
for teaching and education of indigenous students in boarding schools
and nomadic schools will be discussed. Vladimir Minov- one of the
leading specialists in didactics in Krasnoyarsk region, Anna Morottaya-
Inari Sami teacher of the Education Centre in Sami region, and also
colleagues from the Republic of Sakha, Yamal and Evenkia will share
their methodology, knowledge and experiences with conference
participants.
The International Arctic festival has an important cultural and
historical significance, so far as it forms and transmits a single space
in the Russian Arctic region, promotes patterns of interaction in the
field of education and culture of indigenous peoples in the Arctic.

ансамбль песни и танца "Осиктакан". Впервые на таймырской земле выступят
тувинская музыкальная группа "Альберт Кувезин и Ят-Ха", ансамбль
русской песни "Сибирская вечора", ансамбль русских народных инструментов
"Русичи" и Фольк-шоу "Ярмарка". Также ожидается прибытие на фестиваль
творческих коллективов и делегатов стран Арктического совета - США,
